Demi Lovato has announced that she will not be returning to her Disney Channel original series, Sonny With A Chance. She has decided that for the good of her health and the rest of her cast, she will step aside of the program and allow the show to carry on without her. In an official statement, she explained:
“It made sense for me to go ahead and leave the show to focus on my music. It’s kind of sad for me that a chapter of my life has ended but there couldn’t be a better time for me to move on … I don’t think going back to Sonny would be healthy for my recovery. Being in front of a camera would make me nervous.”
Thankfully, the House of Mouse is standing behind their girl in this trying time and support her decision to leave the show, despite losing their star. They also released a statement, saying
“We respect Demi’s decision to focus fulltime on her music and not immediately return to her acting career. She is a talented young woman and our hearts are with her as she continues to take action to improve her health and bounce back from adversity.”
She really is so strong, huh? Seriously – it takes a brave person to walk away from an opportunity like this. This was her Hannah Montana, her Lizzie McGuire. But she is putting herself before her career, something a lot of people in this business are incapable of doing.
