When Whitney Houston’s death prompted an immediate skyrocket effect in album sales, some of Sony’s prices were raised.
In the UK, iTunes prices rose like this:
The Ultimate Collection – rose 60% from $7.85 to $12.50
The Greatest Hits – rose 25% from $12.50 to $15.67
Shady, shady!!
We mean, we know fans needed their fix with Whitney hits like It’s Not Right But It’s Okay (watch above), but was it ethical to rise prices??
The debates spread like wildfire!! So Sony looked into it and guess what!!
…oops! It was all “a mistake” they say!! MmmHmm… inneresting..
A spokesperson commented:
Whitney Houston product was mistakenly mispriced on the U.K. iTunes store on Sunday. When discovered, the the mistake was immediately corrected. We apologize for any offense caused.
Oooh, Sony!! That is just so weird, isn’t it!?! Talk about a coincidence… …
