The Spanish national soccer team just can’t catch a break.
They had to endure a long ride of shame home, about ten hours, and we’re sure they all just wanted to go to their homes and nurse their wounds.
But right as they were nearing their homeland, about to be welcomed back into their country to be consoled and vilified by futbol soccer fans everywhere, mother nature took a swing at them!
Their plane was struck by lighting just before landing in Madrid!!
A spokesperson for airline Iberia SA said that the lightning strike caused no damage and the plane landed normally.
No one was injured on board.
We know planes are built to withstand lightning strikes and all but still… that sounds really scary.
We guess whoever controls the lightning must’ve still been upset at Spain’s early losses to the Netherlands and Chile! LOLz!
