St. Louis Rams Owner Is Building A Stadium In Los Angeles! Are You Ready For Some Football, LA?!

If you build it, they will come!
St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke is taking a page out of Kevin Costner‘s book and building a field of dreams!
Only, in Kroenke’s case, the field is a football stadium in the middle of Inglewood, California — not a corn field.

Kroenke and his partners Stockbridge Capital Group are planning to build a stadium, along with a 6,000-seat performance venue on the former site of the Hollywood Park racetrack, next to the Forum. That’s convenient since Stockbridge owns the property, and Kroenke bought 60-acres next to it.
They’ve projected that the 80,000-seat stadium will open by 2018, and are already seeking signatures to get it on the Inglewood municipal ballot in 2015.
So, what does Inglewood mayor James T. Butts Jr. think of this? He said:

“This will hasten the time for the citizens of Inglewood to get the project they deserve… This is something they have waited for for a long time.”

And Stockbridge founder Terry Fancher reiterated that, saying:

“We are excited to unveil an expanded plan that will bring a world-class sports and entertainment district to Hollywood Park… We are committed to working with [the Kroenke Group] to build a project that will put Inglewood back on the map as home of the truly great sports and entertainment venues.”

The Forum was definitely a hot spot back in the day when it was the home of the Los Angeles Lakers, and it’s on its way again!
