Stacey Dash must have REALLY taken all of the flack she got over her Mitt Romney endorsement to heart. Or she got in trouble in English class.
After being ravaged on Twitter for speaking up in support of the Republican presidential candidate, the actress has responded to all of her haters in the form of a three-page essay.
We’re not going to show you the whole thing because, well, it’s three pages long, but here’s the general gist.
Before the election results were in, she admits that President Barack Obama “will always be remembered as one of the greatest leaders this United States of America has ever known.”
Even though “he’s brilliant, understated, ethical, a great husband and father,” Romney’s “bipartisan success as governor” attracted her to vote for him in hopes that he would “work on both sides of the aisle” to “get our country back on its feet.”
Then she blames Osama Bin Laden for “the free-fall of our economy.” But she’s confident that Romney’s administration would work “tirelessly to create a strong” one again because that’s more important than “equality and women’s rights” for now.
10 hours later, after her candidate lost, she concluded her essay by writing:
“President Obama has been re -elected. I congratulate him. No he was not my choice, but he was the choice of the majority of our country. I do respect and appreciate that the country came together to make a choice. So for that I applaud Americans.”
For the most part, it was a pretty cohesive and well-written explanation of why she chose to vote the way she did. While we’re sure many people will roll their eyes at her unnecessary effort, we understand it was mostly a response to “being criticized in such racially charged and hateful tones,” which we thought was total bullshiz.
Gurl had something to say and she said it. We do it every day.
Do we disagree with her? Yes, but we also know her political stance wasn’t coming from hate and yet, she got a lot of it in return.
