Dennis Avner, the world record holder for most body modifications, was found dead Monday in Tonopah, Nevada.
The 54-year-old, known to most by his Native American name “Stalking Cat,” is believed to have taken his own life, though a cause of death hasn’t been officially released.
A former U.S. Navy sonar technician, Stalking Cat was famous for having had extensive cosmetic surgery to adopt the likeness of his totem animal, the tiger, in accordance with Huron traditions. His body modifications included a split lip, labret-based whisker-holding implants, dental surgery, and silicone injections. He was also extensively tattooed.
Shannon Larratt, blogger and friend of Avner, writes:

“Dennis├óΓé¼Γäós boundary-breaking life was never an easy one, and as he was fond of saying, he ‘found fame, but never fortune.’ A wonderful and complex person, he was at times as troubled as he was remarkable.”

Now his troubled soul has found rest.
Were sure Stalking Cat is purring away in Kitty heaven!
