Star Trek Actress Grace Lee Whitney Dead At 85

Just two months after the world said goodbye to Mr. Spock, another original Star Trek star has left us.

Grace Lee Whitney, who played Captain Kirk’s fabulously coifed assistant Yeoman Janice Rand, died of natural causes on Friday at the age of 85.
Her costar William Shatner mourned her passing, tweeting:

Condolences to the family of Grace. She was a constant shining smile over the years every time our paths crossed.

As a recovering alcoholic, Whitney spent the last three decades of her life helping others to overcome addiction.
Sounds like a wonderful mission to us.
