You know what’s better than an Oscar? Directing the next Star Wars movie!
And that’s exactly the consolation prize that The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord & Christopher Miller are going to get!

Disney finally announced on Tuesday that the much-anticipated Han Solo spinoff movie will be directed by the duo and already has a planned release date on May 25, 2018!
In a typically ridiculous statement, Lord & Miller said:
“This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with.
We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us.
This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you’re late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you’ve loved since before you can remember having dreams at all.”
The prequel film will be written by a different team, that of Lawrence Kasdan (who wrote The Empire Strikes Back) and his son Jon Kasdan (who recently wrote the Sundance Film Festival movie The First Time).
Sounds like no one here is endangering the mission! LOLz!
Now it’s only a matter of time before we find out who will play the lead…
