R2-D2 Creator Tony Dyson Found Dead At Age 68 -- Read The Sad Report

According to reports, Tony Dyson — who built Star Wars droid R2-D2 — is dead at the age of 68.
Dyson’s body was discovered in his home on the Maltese island of Gozo after friends told police they hadn’t seen him for a number of days.
Police are investigating, but there is no immediate suspicion of foul play — and he is believed to have passed away from natural causes.

Back in the 1970s, Dyson was working at the White Horse Toy Company in the U.K. when he was hired to build eight different versions of the beloved droid for George LucasStar Wars films.
He also worked on visual effects on films like Superman II, Dragon Slayer, and the James Bond movie Moonraker.
What an impressive career! Our hearts go out to Dyson’s loved ones at this time.
