Starbucks Will Hold Nationwide Racial-Bias Education For All Company-Owned Store Employees!

no title
Starbucks is taking grande steps to ensure discrimination is wiped out from its stores.
The coffee chain announced Tuesday it would be closing over 8,000 company-owned stores in the United States on May 29 to conduct racial bias education.
The training will apply to nearly 175,000 employees nationwide, with the goal of preventing future discrimination in Starbucks stores.

Discrimination like the outrageous arrest of two black men who employees of a Philadelphia location called the cops on because they were just sitting in the restaurant. Or, like when the manager of a Torrance, CA store denied a black man the bathroom code because he didn’t buy anything in advance.
Seems like sufficient grounds to implement nationwide anti-discrimination training to us!
Company CEO Kevin Johnson said in a statement that while Starbucks is certainly not the only company with this type of problem, they remain committed to “being part of the solution.” He explained:

“I’ve spent the last few days in Philadelphia with my leadership team listening to the community, learning what we did wrong and the steps we need to take to fix it. While this is not limited to Starbucks, we’re committed to being a part of the solution. Closing our stores for racial bias training is just one step in a journey that requires dedication from every level of our company and partnerships in our local communities.”

All Starbucks company-owned stores and corporate offices will be closed in the afternoon of May 29, during which time, partners will be trained on addressing implicit bias, promoting conscious inclusion, preventing discrimination, and ensuring everyone inside a Starbucks store feels safe and welcome.
Way to step up, SB! Now, hopefully black people can have their Starbucks coffee and drink it, too — without getting arrested!
