He’s always had a good heart!
Stephen Colbert has a bit of free time on his hands since he’s currently in between The Colbert Report going off the air and taking over for David Letterman on The Late Show in September.
But regardless of if he was working, Colbert would probably have still found time to join the 10,000-15,000 people walking across the Arthur Ravenel Bridge in South Carolina on Sunday night.

Colbert grew up in Charleston, and knowing how charitable he is, it comes as no surprise that he joined the “unity chain” that stretched from Mount Pleasant to Charleston.
While out on the walk, Stephen took to Twitter for a quick video of the huge turnout and to send a message regarding his support (below):

The walk was to both honor and remember the lives lost in the shooting last Wednesday — Rev. Clementa Pinckney, Rev. Sharonda Singleton, Myra Thompson, Tywanza Sanders, Ethel Lee Lance, Cynthia Hurd, Rev. Daniel L. Simmons Sr., Rev. DePayne Middleton-Doctor, Susie Jackson.
We only wish we could have done what Stephen was fortunate enough to have the chance to do. Our hearts go out to all those affected by last week’s tragic event.
