Most people know Stephen King simply as a writer, but King is a multi-talented artist and also played rhythm guitar and sang in The Rock Bottom Remainders, a rock band made up of mostly writers.
His love of music is what inspired him and his wife and fellow author Tabitha King to donate $10,000 to the Brewer School Department to provide an after school rock ‘n’ roll guitar program to students at the school.
“I’ve been playing since I was 16, and if I’d had lessons, I might have actually been able to play a little,” King said modestly.
The students must provide the guitars, but the classes are free, so it’s a really incredible program.
Stephen, your books scare us, but your charity inspires us!
