Much to the dismay of many devastated Twi-hards, Stephenie Meyer is taking a much needed break from vampires and werewolves and has moved on to bigger and better things.
So what is the former Twilight author up to these days? Apparently she’s busy fighting the good fight and is now a full-time feminist!
In a recent interview, Stephenie talked about why the issue is so important to her, saying:
“I love women, I have a lot of girlfriends, I admire them, they make so much more sense to me than men, and I feel like the world is a better place when women are in charge. So that kind of by default makes me a feminist. I love working in a female world.”
Preach!
It’s always great to see women who are passionate about a great cause, but we worry that she might have some doubters because some of the negative perceptions of the Twilight series.
Some feel that Bella isn’t the best role model due too her dependency on Edward and that they might not have the healthiest relationship, but were guessing none of these people are experts in dating a vampire!
It’s also been pointed out that E.L. James├óΓé¼Γäó controversial 50 Shades of Grey series started as Twilight fan fiction, and the books haven’t really been a popular read amongst her fellow feminists.
Stephenie has pretty much shrugged off the connection to the raunchy books, saying they aren’t for her because they’re “too smutty.” That might be a bit of an understatement! Ha!
Either way, it’s great to see her get involved in such a good cause in her post-Twilight life! You go girl!!
