On Sunday night, Sacramento resident Stephon Clark was fatally shot by police in his grandparent’s backyard after authorities responded to a call of a person breaking car windows nearby, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Although officers believed the 22-year-old was pointing a gun, “the only item found near the suspect was a cellphone,” according a statement from the Sacramento Police Dept.

Officials have released footage of the incident, from the body cameras worn by the two officers who approached Clark, and from a sheriff’s helicopter up above.
More audio and video footage will be released “in the near future.”
In one clip, a cop shouts, “Show me your hands! Gun, gun, gun!” before the two fire a total of 20 rounds at Clark during the encounter.
On Thursday, hundreds of protesters marched through the streets of Sacramento and, at one point, blocked off a freeway.
