Larry Birkhead took the stand yesterday afternoon and will again this morning in the prescription-drug case against Howard K. Stern and two of Anna Nicole Smith’s doctors.
Birkhead, the father of Smith’s daughter Dannielynn, said that he once hid methadone from Ann after becoming worried that she was addicted. After finding out, Howard K. Stern told him that she ├óΓé¼┼ôneeded methadone to live.├óΓé¼┬¥
According to Birkhead, there was always a tension between him and Stern, especially when it came to how Anna Nicole dealt with drugs, and he is worried that Stern’s and the doctors’ actions regarding her drug use led to her death.
After moving in with Anna in 2005, Birkhead said that he saw methadone, Topamax, Vicadin, Ambien, Valium, Chlonopin and other drugs at Smith’s L.A.-area home.
Stern, Dr. Khristine Eroshevich and Dr. Sandeep Kapoor have pleaded not guilty to conspiring to unlawfully get drugs for Smith, prescribing to an addict, and obtaining false prescriptions involving the use of fake names. These charges could land each one in prison for five years.
This is intense and sad. We hope this is resolved very soon.
