A 35-year-old burglar broke into a memorabilia gold mine in Palo Alto, California on July 17 and didn’t even know it!
Alameda resident Kariem McFarlin was arrested on August 2 after stealing over $60,000 worth of “computers and personal items” from Steve Jobs!
He’s facing a maximum prison sentence of seven years and eight months as a result, but did not target the “1930s brick-and-slate country cottage” because of its famous owner.
In fact, he only realized where he was once he saw a letter addressed to Jobs in the unoccupied home.
Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Tom Flattery revealed, “The best we can tell is it was totally random.”
It sounds like McFarlin ALMOST got away with some items that would have fetched a pretty penny on eBay, including the Apple co-founder’s wallet containing his driver’s license and a dollar bill.
He must have felt some kind of remorse for his actions though because the police report states that the criminal took the time to write Jobs’ widow an apology letter.
Aww…that’s sweet too little too late.
