Prince‘s new album, Planet Earth, opened strong on the Billboard charts this week. The record debuted at #3 – selling 96,000 copies – just beneath the Hairspray soundtrack and Now! That’s What I Call Music 25.

The Purple One’s debut is especially impressive give that Planet Earth was initially unavailable as a digital album, though it will soon bow via digital retailers.

While Kelly Clarkson is way out of the Top Ten, Miley Cyrus continues to do well with her Hannah Montana 2 record, coming in at #4 this week.

Meanwhile, Miley’s dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, returns to the top 20 of The Billboard 200 for the first time since 1993 as his new album, Home at Last debuts at #20

Rounding out the Top Ten: Fergie and Amy Winehouse continue to impress. Their albums have legs and came in at #6 and #9 (respectively).
