The Last Ship is ready to stage its last show.
That’s right, Sting‘s musical The Last Ship is setting sail and heading away from Broadway.
Ticket sales were dipping, so Sting himself actually joined the cast, as we previously mentioned.

But even adding Sting to the musical he wrote wasn’t enough to drive people to the theaters.
Jeffrey Seller and Kathryn Schenker, the show’s producers, said:

“We have been bewildered and saddened by our inability to sustain an audience for this musical that we deeply love. There are no easy explanations.”

The show cost $15,000,000 to produce and costs $625,000 a week in running costs. Ticket sales just weren’t high enough to cover those numbers.
So now the show’s final performance will be the last day Sting would’ve still been performing, January 24th.
So if you wanted to see the Sting musical, now’s your last chance before it sails off into the sunset!
