This is really unfortunate.
A stuntman on the set of Hangover II is suing Warner Bros. after a stung went wrong, leaving him with brain injuries.
Scott McLean was Ed Helms‘ stunt double on the Bangkok, Thailand set when he was injured when two cars that were traveling at high speeds collided.
The scene required “precision and timing,” but after shooting had already beguin, the film’s stunt coordinator, who is also being sued, had changed the timing sequence.
McLean says:
“[Russell] Solberg [the stunt coordinator] commanded to the driver of the automobile in which plaintiff Scott McLean was a passenger, that the speed of his vehicle be increased significantly to a speed unsafe for the stunt, thus resulting in a major collision.”
McLean was airlifted from Thailand to Australia where he stayed in a hospital and rehab facility. The collision caused “likely permanent brain and physical injuries.”
He claims that Warner Bros. and the staff were negligent in making sure he was safe. Meanwhile, the studio released a statement:
“We were shocked and saddened by this accident and have been working closely with Scott and his family throughout his treatment and recovery. We have offered continual support since the accident occurred and we are working together to try and resolve any outstanding issues.”
Hopefully, it will get resolved. McLean should be fully compensated for his injuries.
