Blair Witch Director Reacts To Disappointing Opening Weekend By Insulting National Hero 'Sully' Sullenberger! See What He Tweeted!

no title
Nothing like an awkward Twitter feud with a national hero to make things interesting at the box office!
We already know this weekend’s box office was VERY unkind to new releases Bridget Jones’s Baby, Snowden, and Blair Witch, but only one of those movies is adding insult to its own injury!

Blair Witch failed to crest even $10 million in its box office opener, which meant lots of blame to go around for everybody involved.
And yet, while writer Simon Barrett was self-deprecatingly funny about the whole thing, we can’t say the same for director Adam Wingard (pictured above, left).
The drama all started when Barrett tweeted:

Ha!!
If you can laugh at yourself, you’re OK by us — and Barrett seem to be able to do just that.

But in response, Wingard takes it a little too far (below):

Whoa! WTF?!
Who makes fun of Chesley ‘Sully’ Sullenberger??
This is the man (pictured above, right) who landed the plane in the Hudson River and inspired the Tom Hanks-led drama that landed atop the box office AGAIN this weekend! And he’s a freakin’ national treasure!!
Too far, Wingard — too far!

The director kept tweeting after dropping that bomb, though. Here’s how he followed up (below):

That last tweet is probably the smartest one here! Ha!!
What’d U think, Perezcious readers?! Did U see Blair Witch or Sully this weekend?? Which was your favorite??
