Super Bowl 2019 Ratings Drop To 10-Year Low!

nfl super bowl ratings ten year low

No one scored big at the 2019 Super Bowl: not the L.A. Rams, nor Maroon 5, and certainly not CBS for airing it.
According to Deadline, Super Bowl LIII had the worst ratings for the Big Game since 2009, bringing in 44.9/68 in metered market results. The game peaked near then end with a 47.3 in metered markets in the 9:30-10 p.m. EST slot.

While the final numbers aren’t in yet, the first round of ratings signify a 5% drop from the 2018 Super Bowl, which aired on NBC, and an 8% dip from the metered markets the last time CBS broadcasted the game in 2016.
These ratings don’t come as much of a shock, seeing as it was the lowest scoring Super Bowl in history that didn’t give fans a touchdown until the fourth quarter. The lingering NFL boycott over Colin Kaepernick‘s national anthem protest certainly didn’t help either.
But don’t feel too bad for CBS. Tom Brady’s historic sixth Super Bowl victory is still expected to have the biggest viewership of any televised event in 2019.
