Our hearts go out to Susan Sarandon during this difficult time.
On Friday, we learned that Susan’s beloved brother Terry Tomalin passed away in Florida on May 19 from a heart attack. Mr. Tomalin was just 55 years old.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, where Terry worked as the outdoors editor, he was in the middle of a life guarding certification class with his son Kai when he collapsed. It’s a heartbreaking detail considering Kai is only 14 years old.
Naturally, this news comes a crushing blow to Sarandon who shared the sad message (below) with fans:
How heartbreaking. The two were clearly very close, a bond S.S. encapsulated with a #TBT photo of the two she posted about a year ago:
So crushing.
Echoing Suse’s heartache, Terry’s wife of 17 years, Kanika Tomalin, expressed:
“We are devastated. He loved us. He loved his family so much, and we loved him.”
Ugh. We feel just terrible for the editor’s two children and Kanika.
On a lighter note, we’re just in awe of Terry’s life as an outdoorsman and relentless adventurer. From New Zealand to the Everglades, the father truly lived life to the fullest.
A former colleague recalled:
“He joked that he could get through life without ever putting on a pair of long pants. He smelled like he got up at 4 a.m. and went fishing before work, which he did.”
Sounds like T.T. was a great guy.
Stay strong, Susan.
