Living legend, Miz Dolly Parton, is starting her own record label.
Dolly Records’s debut release will be Parton’s new album, out in February of 2008.
“She’s a free agent right now so we decided to go around to the majors to at least see what kind of distribution deals they were bringing in, and didn’t see anything I was interested in,” says Danny Nozell, Parton’s manager.
So they’re doing things on their own!
“To be honest, we have the finances the major labels have, and I put together a marketing plan that was way more extensive than any major has brought to me,” Nozell says.
The new album is a back-to-her-roots effort for Parton.
“It’s really the first mainstream country record Dolly has done in 17 years,” says Nozell.
Distribution is still being finalized for the new label, but a deal is already in the works with iTunes for digital sales.
The first single, Better Get To Livin’, will├é┬á├é┬ábe released to radio this September.
Plans are for Parton to do a world tour beginning in March.
We’re so there!
