Ugh! This is so disturbing and sad!
Albino men, women, and children in the country of Tanzania in East Africa are being raped or MURDERED because some believe they are a cure for HIV and AIDS!
Sick!
So far, HUNDREDS of albinos are thought to have been killed for black magic purposes, with at least 63 confirmed women and children dead as a result of this ludicrous belief!
Peter Ash, founder of the Canadian human rights group Under The Same Sun, said:
“We believe there are hundreds and hundreds of killings in Tanzania, but only a small number are being reported to the police. There is belief that if you have relations with a girl with albinism, you will cure AIDS. So there are many girls with albinism who are being raped in this country because of this belief, which is a false belief.”
The country has a population of 40.7 million with about 1.4 million infected with HIV.
The individuals disturbed enough to commit such a heinous crime harvest their victims blood, hair, genitals and other body parts for potions that witchdoctors say bring luck in love, life and business.
We are so sad for the albino population in this country and hope the Tanzanian government offers protection for them soon!
