Tax Issues For Martin Scorsese!

Unfortunately, we’re learning of another big name in the industry who owes the tax man some major money.
This time it’s Martin Scorsese, the Oscar award-winning director, and he owes $2.85 million dollars.
But once again, this could be a case of not-his-faults like we reported with Al Pacino, because Martin too was duped by that evil mastermind Kenneth Starr.
The only issue here is that this isn’t the first time that Marty’s had issues with his taxes.
Those were bad as well:

Over a six-month period in 2002-03, the IRS slapped him with three liens totaling nearly $1.9 million — and a year later, New York state obtained a $149,437 tax judgment against him. Those prior tax debts have been paid in full, Finance Department records show.

It’s never a good thing to see people in trouble with the IRS, and we thought you had this behind you, Martin!
But if it was Ken, then, we’re sorry we ever doubted you! LOLz!

UPDATE: Martin’s people just issued this EXCLUSIVE statement to us, denying any problems with the IRS. According to his rep:

“Mr. Scorsese does not owe the IRS any money whatsoever. All of his liabilities have been paid in full. It is unfortunate that the IRS filed this lien prematurely. The IRS is releasing the lien and that will be publicly recorded within a few days.”
