Taylor Swift May Get The Chance To Buy Back Her Original Album Recordings -- And You’ll Never Guess Who Is ‘Encouraging’ The Sale!

Taylor Swift swift fans rejoice! She may FINALLY be on the cusp of getting all her original recordings back!

It’s been a rough several years for the Fortnight singer. If you recall, Scooter Braun’s company Ithaca Holdings purchased Big Machine Label Group for over $300 mil in 2019 — the label that owned the rights to the original recordings of Taylor’s first six albums, including Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation. So that means Scooter gained control of them… But not for long as he turned around and sold them to investment firm Shamrock Capital for a profit just one year later! And it caused a MAJOR feud between the manager and the pop star, who called him a “bully” and the “definition of toxic male privilege in our industry” as she claimed she was never offered the chance to buy them herself before Scooter sold them… Or that she was even made aware they were going up for sale at all!

Scooter denied that, but the situation led to the Midnights artist’s Taylor’s Version re-recordings of all six albums, which gave her ownership of the songs in some way. Not the OGs, of course, but new versions of them — which she’s still rolling out to this day. But according to Page Six, she finally has a chance to purchase the OGs!

On Thursday, a source told the outlet Shamrock Capital is now interested in offloading the recordings, and may do so directly to Tay Tay… And the shocking part is who is reportedly encouraging the sale:

“Interestingly enough, one of the individuals who is encouraging this deal to take place is Scooter, who was at the center of the deal the first time around alongside Big Machine.”

Wait, WHAT?! Really?! Given everything that’s transpired between them over the past several years we’re shocked! But maybe he’s just over being depicted as the bad guy?

If she does decide to buy them back, the price could be REALLY steep. Like, in the $600 million to $1 BILLION range. But CAD Management founder Clayton Durant thinks it’d be worth it. He told the outlet:

“If she could claw back and create a deal structure where she could get the rights to her original recordings, she exponentially increases the amount of money she makes. She’s making money off the publishing still from the [original] songs.”

But according to him, not as much as she’s making from her Taylor’s Version publishings, which she does own. So having both could mean major money for the You Belong with Me singer. He noted:

“When she puts out a re-recording version, consumption also spikes on the original.”

Double trouble! It’d be a HUGE investment, but likely very worth it in the long run. A source further told the outlet Shamrock Capital is trying their best to make Taylor aware of the situation:

“The team at Shamrock want to make sure that Taylor has knowledge that they are trying to put this deal to her, as they are not sure that she was ever offered them the first time around.”

Wow! Do YOU think she should try and buy them? Let us know in the comments down below!
