Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce's Future Together Hinges On THIS Pivotal Issue!

Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce's Prenup Decisions

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are set to tie the knot in a matter of weeks — if you believe the reports — but one very important legal matter to sort out first!

The rumor mill has been working on overdrive to figure out exactly where and when the wedding of the summer will take place, with reports first betting it’d be on June 13 in Rhode Island. But that was later debunked, with the new leading theory landing on July 3rd in New York City! We could totally see that!

The pop star and footballer are apparently trying to go out of their way to keep the deets of their special day a secret. But they’ve also got another important detail to hash out before they say “I do” — signing a prenup!

According to TMZ on Tuesday, it’s highly likely the A-listers will sign a prenuptial agreement before their wedding, and if they do, the location where they draft up that document is maybe even more significant than where they marry!

You see, the laws governing prenups change based on state, and usually, wherever a prenup is written is what rules will apply — regardless of where the couple ends up living or ties the knot. Seeing as Taylor, worth an estimated $2 billion, and Travis, worth $90 million, have ties to at least 6 states, they’ve got a lot of solid options to choose from.

Interestingly, sources have already ruled out California (though it’s unclear why). That leaves Rhode Island, Missouri, Kansas, Tennessee, and New York as possibilities.

If the couple’s gonna go out of their way to sign a prenup, they probably want a state that enforces prenups, protects separate property, gives courts less leeway to rewrite agreements, protects businesses and IP, and doesn’t dish out long-term spousal support. With that in mind, the outlet’s sources believe Rhode Island is the best fit! With New York being the WORST choice given the state’s history of judges who scrutinize the legal agreements — and sometimes even invalidate them!

Seeing as Travis just bought a home in Kansas, the prenup-friendly state could be a solid runner-up. The state is home to less aggressive judges and pretty predictable courts, as well as a decent respect for the protection of separate property. The NFL star’s career is also heavily tied to Kansas City, which sits on the border of both Kansas and Missouri, which would be down at the bottom of the pack, only slightly better than NYC.

The songwriter’s home state of Tennessee ranks in the middle. It’s usually a good option for wealthy pairings, including entertainers, so it’s a solid choice. Seems like they have a lot of options!

If their heart is set on a certain locale, it’s possible they could make anything work. They no doubt have an impressively skilled legal team on their side, which could likely write a solid prenup in any state. Or, there’s always the very shocking chance they could be like Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez and refuse to sign on the dotted line! Though we can’t imagine the Grammy winner would want to risk her livelihood like that! But love makes you do crazy things…

What do YOU think, will these two sign a prenup? Sound OFF (below)!
