Taylor Swift’s Political Post Leads To Huge Spike In Voter Registration!

Taylor Swift political post America vote registration

One voice can make a huge difference… if that voice is a superstar singer with 112 million Instagram followers.
Since Taylor Swift broke her political silence and took a stand against Donald Trump-endorsed Tennessee Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn in a powerful IG post, Vote.org received an unprecedented wave of new voter registrations across the nation.

Kamari Guthrie, director of communications for Vote.org, told BuzzFeed News:

“We are up to 65,000 registrations in a single 24-hour period since T. Swift’s post.”

That’s a pretty big figure, y’all. 190,178 new voters registered nationwide in the entire month of September, while the month of August saw 56,669 voters register.
Taylor’s home state of Tennessee saw an especially huge spike in registrations. Guthrie said the state, where the singer voiced support for Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper, has gotten 5,183 registrations so far this month — about 2,144 of which were in the last 36 hours.

That’s up from 2,811 new state voter registrations for the month of September, and a mere 951 in August. Guthrie also noted the site had seen a big jump in visitors since Tay’s post, adding:

“Thank God for Taylor Swift.”

In her post, the 28-year-old said she felt compelled to break her political silence “due to several events in my life and in the world the past two years.” Her message drew criticism from her right-leaning fans, Fox News, and President Trump, who told reporters he likes her music “about 25 percent less now.”
Say what you want about Taylor, but no one other celeb could mobilize a country to vote like this. That’s true star power!
