Taylor Swift may have some competition for her crown, and it has her on edge! At least that is what a source is claiming!
According to Dailymail.com on Friday, the 36-year-old pop star is concerned about a certain rising star right now. Which one, you ask? It’s not Olivia Rodrigo! Or her best friend, Gracie Abrams! Instead, it is none other than country singer Ella Langley!

Ella has had a massive year in her career! Her single Choosin’ Texas has spent 14 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, tying a record set by powerhouses Whitney Houston for I Will Always Love You and Mariah Carey for We Belong Together. She also tied with Mariah’s All I Want for Christmas Is You for the second-longest command among songs by only women. An incredible feat! And there is a strong chance she could break these two divas’ records, too!
However, Ella can already pat herself on the back for breaking a massive record! The popular track surpassed Taylor’s 2012 hit We Are Never Getting Back Together for the most weeks at number one by a female country artist! Wow! When asked about how much the milestone meant to her, the musician reportedly said:
“It means that my head’s spinning around like an owl. You ever seen that? It’s pretty scary. It’s nuts. I’m just excited.”
As for Taylor, she reportedly feels a bit threatened! One industry insider even suggested that is why she returned to her country roots all these years later and released her latest single I Knew It, I Knew You, which is the theme song for Toy Story 5! They claimed to Dailymail.com that she is possibly trying to assert her dominance in the genre again:
“Taylor could never let someone else have the country throne. She wanted to make it clear that if there’s a woman that’s going to dominate the country charts it won’t be Beyoncé and it won’t be Ella.”
But the source also noted Tay Tay may have trouble winning over the country audiences again to maintain her throne in comparison to Ella, especially the fans who feel she abandoned them to become a pop star:
“The radio programmers have to say they’re excited about I Knew It, I Knew You and have to immediately play her song – it’s Taylor. But the country fans still remember that she left.”
And what helps Ella with country fans, too, is that she steers clear of politics, unlike her peers Taylor, Kelsea Ballerini, and more. The insider added:
“Ella is winning because she panders to the country music fan base. She plays it safe. She’s not speaking out on important topics like a Kelsea Ballerini, Kacey Musgraves or Maren Morris.”
Despite all this, the outlet noted there are no hints of any animosity between the two women publicly. And let’s be real, Taylor is one of the biggest stars in the world. We think her “throne” in the industry is safe, no matter what. The Evermore artist is also likely cheering on Ella from the sidelines rather than plotting her downfall. So, take the report with a grain of salt.
But what are your thoughts, Perezcious readers? Do you believe Taylor should be worried? Let us know in the comments (below)!
