Wow, we’re SO inspired by Robert Konrad, a teacher from Florida who recently announced his plans to transition into a woman!
What makes Robert’s story so special is that he decided to reveal his plans to his students and colleagues in a very pragmatic and AWESOME way.

Instead of letting rumors and speculation run rampant as he transitioned, Robert devised a well-calculated plan involving emails and robocalls to inform parents of the situation, while the rest of the student body and staff were told while at school.
The email and robocalls explained:
“Mr. Konrad has begun the process of gender transition and is anticipating presenting as a female no later than August of 2015. As you can imagine, this is a very private decision, but Mr. Konrad has indicated that he will respond to appropriate questions you may have about the transition process.”
We love how Konrad is so clearly dedicated to being transparent about his transition! By being honest and open about his change, Robert is allowing students to educate themselves on a very sensitive process.
An employee at the school added:
“It’s something that this teacher wanted. He wanted this to not be through rumors when he starts to change appearance. We believe instruction is not affected by a person’s gender, and the district is committed to providing an educational environment that respects all members of our school community.”
What an AMAZING response! It’s obvious Robert has a lot of support and love from his staff!
We hope that the school and all other stakeholders in the community continue to be such a pillar of strength for Robert as he undergoes his transition!
