Oh, Ted Cruz.
The ultra-right-wing Senator and Republican candidate for the Presidency was out in full force at the Iowa State Fair this week ready to debate lecture all potential voters about a range of social issues!

When one of those randos turned out to be none other than Ellen Page confronting Cruz about LGBT rights, the Senator didn’t exactly foster discussion and debate — which, ya know, might be something a politician ought to do.
Page confronted cruz in front of TV cameras on Friday over “the persecution of gays in the workplace and LGBT rights,” and said to the Senator:
“What about the question about LGBT people being fired for being gay-trans?”
To Cruz, of course, that’s not actually the issue — the issue is that Christians are being persecuted in this country:
“Well, what we’re seeing right now, we’re seeing Bible-believing Christians being persecuted for living according to their faith.”
That’s of course 1,000% wrong, but please, Mr. Senator, tell us more about your experience with persecution while running for the highest office in the land…
Page responded to Cruz’s Christian persecution contention:
“You’re discriminating against LGBT people. Well, would you use that argument in segregation?”
But… Cruz shut that right down:
“Now I’m happy to answer your question, but not to have a back-and-forth debate.”
Because why on Earth would you want to encourage a discussion between two people about something as important as human rights when you can just be lectured by an out-of-touch and ultimately irrelevant wannabe-President, right?! Please…
