A plethora of Twitter messages from students in school have arisen lately that may make either chuckle or not chuckle at all.
We guess the food being served around Thanksgiving has made a lot of students mad because they’re not feeling stuffed at all after they eat.
Which, for anyone who has had to deal with a food coma on the day of thanks, may be a good thing.
But the students have used their creative magic and access to the world through the internet to create a hashtag that has been uniting all unhappy school lunch eaters nationwide!
And that hashtag is #ThankMichelleObama!!!

This isn’t the first time students have expressed their unhappiness with lunches, but the photographic proof was definitely making it seem like these lunches are a bit skimpy and don’t always look so appetizing (above).
Which is exactly how we remember school lunches back before these guidelines ever took place!
It’s up to schools to make delicious food from the guidelines which promote more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains and restrict the intake of calories, fat, sugar, and sodium.
The USDA has since defended their guidelines by saying these photos “do not fully reflect the full range of choices students are provided.”
They also responded with:
“Independent research shows that a majority of American kids like healthier school lunches, the number of students that like their meals is growing, and that updated meal standards are working to help improve students’ health. Students are always provided full servings of both fruits and vegetables as well as protein options, so clearly many of the photos posted do not fully reflect the full range of choices students are provided. Congress passed updated healthy school lunch standards, based on recommendations from pediatricians, with overwhelming bipartisan support to help reduce our country’s childhood obesity epidemic and ensure kids are able to get nutritious food at school.”
Guess people will always be on both sides of the fence opinion when it comes to everything and anything including school lunches!
Everybody’s always a critic!!!
