George Wainwright, a Texas man working for Oceaneering International, spent most of his free time either fishing or diving.
It was on one of these dives when he was attacked and killed by a great white shark.
His friends were on their boat when suddenly they say a large amount of bubbles rise to the surface. The bubbles were followed by the mutilated body of their friend.
His uncle, Jay Wainwright, said:
“He was a great young man and was just always happy. He was so well loved by everyone. I don’t think I ever saw him have an ounce of hate in him.”
Officials have ordered the shark to be hunted down and killed.
This is the third great white shark fatality in the past two months in Western Australia.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Wainwright family.
