It’s nice to see that even despite what we consider to be very justifiable backlash following his visit, the Anne Frank House is standing in support of Justin Bieber.
As we reported, the troubled pop sensation managed to cause some pretty serious controversy over the weekend during his trip to the Amsterdam home in which the courageous Jewish teenager hid from Nazis and wrote her now-famous diary, when he wrote in the guest book:
“Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.”
However, despite having the gall to make what have should have been a solemn, sobering and reflective visit about himself, representatives from the house stated this morning on their Facebook page:
“The Anne Frank House was pleased to welcome Justin Bieber to the Anne Frank House last Friday. We think it is very positive that he took the time and effort to visit our museum. He was very interested in the story of Anne Frank and stayed for over an hour. We hope that his visit will inspire his fans to learn more about her life and hopefully read the diary.”
As do we. Guess that is the silver lining in all this.
Her story is such a powerful testament to the courage, perseverance, and faith in a better future that can be found in every human spirit – even in so young a girl as she was.
However, while we appreciate that the Anne Frank House is looking at the controversy from a positive viewpoint, as that’s the message the young heroine maintained even in times of incredible adversity, we just hope that this whole debacle serves as a much-needed wake-up call for Justin.
Time to grow up and take a bite of some much-needed humble pie, boo!
