Watch out, Lorax!
After winning the coveted Best Picture Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards, people are finally heading over to theaters to check out The Artist (even though it’s a silent film).
Over the weekend, the award-winning film made its way into the top 10 in North America for the first since it debuted in limited released 15 WEEKS AGO! Wow!
It brought in $3.9 million, and in total it’s now raked in $37.1 million domestically.
Here’s what Weinstein Company president of distribution Erik Lomis had to say about it:
“This is within the range of what we expected. This film is a slow burn.”
The studio is hoping that The Artist will gross $45-$50 million total in N. America before it says goodbye to theaters.
Good luck!!!!!
