How many more records can this movie BREAK?!
The Avengers once again maintained the number one spot in the US and Canadian box-office this weekend, making a whopping $55.1 million and securing the title of the highest grossing movie for the Walt Disney Company EVER, with $1.18 billion in global sales!
Paul Dergarabedian, president of Hollywood.com’s box-office unit, explains:
“Great marketing can buy you a big opening weekend, but only a crowd-pleasing and solid movie can get you to where ‘The Avengers’ has gone.”
We guess so!
Battleship came in second, but the ticket sales were $30 million LESS with $25.4 million!
And the previous record holder for Disney was Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest with $1.07 billion!
We have a feeling the only movie that would be able to top these records would be an Avengers 2!
