The Avengers didn’t just beat Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 to score the highest domestic opening ever with $200.3 million, it broke A LOT of other records too!
In fact, the demand was so high for this flick that IMAX theaters sold out across the country and it captured the highest grossing opening weekend in IMAX history!
The Marvel movie may not have beat Harry Potter to claim the biggest opening day ever on Friday, but it did make $69.7 million the next day to become the highest grossing Saturday of all time.
The Avengers also nabbed a slew of other honors like having the biggest midnight opening for a superhero movie, the fastest film to reach $200 million in three days, and the biggest opening weekend of all time in 11 other countries!
Who needs an Oscar when your making money like this?
We wonder if Disney and Marvel had a ginourmous pArtayyy in the office today to celebrate! We would!
