As you all should know by now, Joss Whedon is already attached to write and direct the sequel to his record-setting Avengers, but now the blockbuster’s sequel has a release date too!
Disney has confirmed that The Avengers 2 will hit U.S. theaters on May 1, 2015, as in insider told sources:
“It looks like the release date might be May 1, 2015, but that can change depending on people’s schedules. The beauty of The Avengers is that you’ve got so many people in this that even during the shoot if someone has to do another film they can just focus on [other characters].”
So now we know all of the important details — the sequel is definitely happening and Joss Whedon is definitely going to make sure it’s totally awesome.
Now we just have to cross our fingers that the studio doesn’t make him tack on a really bad subtitle like The Avengers 2: Loki’s Revenge.
