This is so terrible…
Arie Luyendyk Jr. and wife Lauren Burnham shared heartbreaking news over the weekend that they had recently suffered a miscarriage. The couple, famously in love and married after their run on The Bachelor, shared the news in an emotional YouTube video directly for their fans and followers.

The couple, who already has one child together — daughter Alessi, who celebrated her first birthday on Friday — was overjoyed early on to be a growing family of four soon. But the anticipation soon turned to sadness, as they recounted in the video, upon learning that they had lost the baby.
Writing in the video’s description section, the couple stated (below):
“We made so many plans. We bought a new house with more space, we planned how we wanted to tell you all and we envisioned our future with Alessi’s little brother/sister. We were planning to share our journey through pregnancy with you, but unfortunately we didn’t get the happy story we had hoped for.”
Ugh… so, so sad.
The couple explains through the video how the pregnancy — which was unplanned, and a surprise to them as it unfolded early on — came along far more slowly than expected. Weeks into it, doctors realized something was amiss, as the baby wasn’t developing as it normally would.
Arie explained the “roller coaster of emotions” in going through the miscarriage and dealing with the emotional aftermath of it all, too, saying:
“It’s been a roller coaster of emotions going from scared at first a little bit because it was so soon, then happy, then stress and worry for weeks on end, and then obviously today was the bad news. It’s consumed our thoughts for the last month. It’s been hard holding this back from everybody. [Our story] doesn’t have the happiest outcome … but hopefully the next time you see a video with the word pregnancy it’s positive and it’s good news. We’ll get through this.”
An optimistic tone, for sure, and we’re hoping the pair will get through it just fine, but it’s definitely a very, very sad event.

Very real, very raw, and very honest, that’s for sure.
Such sad stuff, too. We’re sending all our love to Arie and Lauren during this trying time!
Certainly not an easy thing to go through, but we wish them strength and comfort moving forward.
