Sucks!
Some of New York’s glitziest restaurants have been accused in recent lawsuits of stealing tips and cheating wait staff out of wages.
The establishments named in the suits include Nobu, Pastis, and Jean George.
Robert DeNiro‘s Nobu is getting lots of bad press these days!
An attorney representing several restaurants, tried to lay blame on ‘decades-old workplace labor laws, as well as state and federal laws that do not clearly state who can share in tips and how they should be divided’.
The legal bloodhound went on to say, “It is a result of these antiquated laws and regulations that plaintiff class action lawyers have been able to swoop in and take advantage.”
So legal greed is driving fair labor practices at NYC restaurants?
We say tip your NYC waiter in cash and hand it over to them directly!
