Mel C is opening up about a jagged comment she made that almost changed EVERYTHING.
During a recent appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, the Spice Girls band member reflected on attending an awards show before the girl group blew up:
“Nobody in the public knew us, but in the industry people had started talking. And we were there, and we were sitting on a table with Lenny Kravitz, which obviously, for these young girls, it was this amazing night.”

Sporty Spice recalled drinking and “having fun” with bandmates Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton before getting into a tiff with Victoria AKA Posh Spice:
“We were just leaving, we were going to find our car, and whatever the situation was, I just turned around and go, ‘Victoria, f**k off.’”
Oop!
Mel C didn’t reveal what led up to her jagged comment, but what may have felt insignificant in the moment ended up turning into a much bigger ordeal:
“I go home, go to bed, I wake up the next morning, and I was in a lot of trouble.”
The now-52-year-old revealed fellow bandmates Mel B AKA Scary Spice and Geri AKA Ginger spice made it known they were “disgusted” with her behavior. But it didn’t just remain a grievance within the group… their MANAGER got involved! Mel C said she was called her into a meeting over the situation:
“I was told in no uncertain terms that if anything ever happened like that again, I would be gone. That completely freaked me out.”
Whoa! Sounds like there was a near-zero tolerance policy for drama! She continued:
“I went into terror because I thought I was gonna lose everything. Those dreams as a child, which now were a possibility, I might have f**ked it all up. And I thought it was very trivial as well.”
Oof! We’re so glad that didn’t end up being the end of her run in the Spice Girls! Listen to more from the podcast (below):
Mel C previously opened up about the same incident in a 2020 interview with People where she said it helped her learn how to “self-police.”
“A tiny little thing I didn’t think was that bad could have jeopardized my whole dream. So it made me really self-police. That got to the point of me being very controlling in different areas of my life. Losing control freaked me out.”
She added at the time:
“So much of my life was out of control. So I controlled my eating, my exercise — everything I possibly could. I was underweight for a couple of years, and it was very damaging for my mental health.”
