After being diagnosed with Hepatitis C last year, Natalie Cole has been through what she describes as “a real tough journey.”
The singer has undergone chemotherapy and kidney transplant in May, yet she was in full force at her comeback concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday.
“I really do have to say … it really is a miracle time. It’s a miracle night for me,” she told the crowd. “I never thought I’d be standing here healthy and whole and 100 percent.”
Cole received several standing ovations throughout the night in which she performed 17 songs, including This Will Be, Our Love and Unforgettable.
“My heart is very full tonight, and I know a lot of you know why. It’s just good to be back. You know what I’m saying?” she asked as the audience went crazy. “You know, things don’t always go the way we want it to. Things happen unexpectedly. You got to take the good with the bad.”
Amen, sister! And congrats and the speedy recovery!
