Wow. We seriously hope that this is NOT true!
While David Fincher‘s adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was a critical success – and even nabbed its star Rooney Mara an Academy Award nomination – it apparently did not make enough money for the studio head honchos to feel confident in beginning production on its sequel, The Girl Who Played With Fire!
Sources reveal that the movie cost around $100 million to make, and even though it brought in $231 million worldwide, it still suffered a modest loss and would need another 10% back in revenue to break even – mainly due to what is speculated to be its expensive marketing costs, which are not covered in the budget.
While reps from Sony maintain that Fire is “still in development,” no word yet on the project being greenlit, and no shoot or release day set on the Internet Movie Database!
Boo!
We do NOT like the sound of this at all!
Especially because the second and third books are when shiz REALLY starts to get inneresting!
Here’s hoping these suits can put aside the number-crunching for just a bit and take their SUPREMELY talented cast and crew for another walk in the life of Lisbeth Salander!
How about U?? Do U want to see The Girl Who Played With Fire hit the big screen??
