But it won’t screen in IMAX.

Win some, lose some, right?
The big news to come from Lionsgate co-COO Joe Drake today was that when The Hunger Games releases in theaters this March, its going to release WORLD-WIDE, including in China.
In case that doesn’t mean much to you, you should know that Chinese authorities for cinematic viewing only greenlight 20 foreign films a year to be screened in their country, so for The Hunger Games to carry so much weight with them this early on is a pretty good sign that this franchise is going to be a huge success.
That’s the good news. The bad news is, if you were hoping to watch Katniss Everdeen run through the games on a wide, Imax screen in the spring, we’re sorry to say, it won’t happen. Apparently, there is a pre-existing agreement with a rival studio that is hindering Lionsgate from making a deal with them. No clue as to who that might be though.
