Well, the developers don’t really call it a game, but rather a simulator.
After using Google Earth to create a to scale replica of the grounds and the size of the building, they then used news video to approximate the inner workings of the compound. After a 25 hour marathon of programming to get it out as fast as possible to stay relevant, the sim is now available and puts you in the shoes of a SEAL on a mission to kill Osama Bin Laden.
They claim it’s a tool to help instill a new kind of perspective on the event, that hopefully someone will take something new away from it:
“Running through the sim gives a perspective that cannot be communicated any other way,” he says. “[Players] witness firsthand what was seen from the ground and perhaps a few similar thoughts are shared between the person who experienced the event for real and the person who just used the sim.”
Not sure that’s all what’s going on here. It feels like because of the rushed pace and the quick deadline that they just wanted to tap as many still-curious people as possible with the content. Because let’s be honest: it’s getting them attention.
We don’t support this, we feel like it’s completely unnecessary and that there is barely anything to gain from it, if anything at all.
How do U feel about this??
