Day 4 of our adventures in India!
We could not be any happier with our trip! And we are still here for another 10 days!!!!
If you have never been to India before, we can’t recommend enough paying a visit to this magical and majestic country!
So colorful! In every sense of the word!
And the people are so peaceful and warm!
Today we went on a so-called “village safari”, paying visit to many small towns near Jodhpur.
We met with and learned about local craftspeople, like pottery makers and weavers, many of whom work with their whole families. So much time, effort and pride goes into what they do!
We also were shocked and saddened by our visit to a Bishnoi tribe. Though opium is technically illegal in India, it is still so common in this community. It is considered an act of courtesy to offer your guests opium, which we were – and we declined. Then, as if a show pony, this tribesman proceeded to distill opium in a liquid form and then drink it.
Such is the reality of life. It isn’t always ideal!
We walked around the larger village of Rohet and even had lunch in the (very nice) local chieftain’s house.
Now, we have booked massages for Momma Perez and ourselves and we are off to relax, followed by more eating our face off later.
The food in India is EXCEPTIONALLY AMAZING!
