The Vatican’s very own newspaper has passed its judgement on the new Ron Howard/Tom Hanks flick Angels & Demons, and has deemed the film “a gigantic and smart commercial operation” littered with “stereotyped characters,” but ultimately just “two hours of harmless entertainment, which hardly affects the genius and mystery of Christianity.”
Earlier this week, Howard had spoken out against the Vatican for refusing the production film permits.
L’Osservatore Romano, who reviewed the film, suggested that one could make a game of pointing out all of its historical inaccuracies.
Yeah, and we could make a game out of counting all the church’s hypocrisies.
