James Ransone‘s wife Jamie McPhee is mourning her husband.
On Friday, The Wire star, who played Ziggy Sobotka on the hit HBO show, was tragically found dead by suicide. According to the LA County Medical Examiner, the 46-year-old’s cause of death was listed as “hanging” in a “shed.” Just so devastating.
Now, his dear wife is paying a heartfelt and deeply emotional tribute to the actor. Taking to her Instagram on Sunday, Jamie shared a sweet photo of the couple standing side-by-side. James’ hand was on her pregnant belly. She captioned it:
“I told you I have loved you 1000 times before and I know I will love you again. You told me – I need to be more like you and you need to be more like me – and you were so right. Thank you for giving me the greatest gifts – you, Jack and Violet. We are forever.”
So beautiful. The couple shared kids Jack, 6, and Violet, 4.

Jamie also reposted several other tributes to her Instagram Story from friends. When the news was first shared, she shared a GoFundMe link to her social media profile, which was created to help her “navigate life after an unimaginable loss.” The page explains:
“Its purpose is simple: to give Jamie the space to focus fully on Jack and Violet, to care for them, protect their sense of security, and ensure they have a bright future — even without James’s light present in their everyday lives.”
As of this writing, they have raised just $48,000 of a $120K goal. Check it out HERE. Previously, she also shared a fundraiser for the National Alliance on Mental Illness to her socials, per reports.
Our thoughts are with the whole family as they mourn this gut-wrenching loss.
