Reality TV Star Loses Sight In One Eye After Horrific Champagne Cork Accident During Ibiza Party

Reality TV veteran Theo Campbell is recovering on Wednesday after undergoing two eye surgeries following a serious incident involving a champagne bottle cork.

According to the former Love Island cast member, he “lost all vision” in his right eye after it was split in half due to the popping cork, reportedly during a party in Ibiza. The British star shared the news to his Instagram and Twitter accounts late Tuesday night, along with a pic showing his now-bandaged right eye.

The 28-year-old, who is scheduled to compete on the upcoming season of MTV‘s The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2, remained remarkably positive in his Instagram post explaining the incident. You can read his full message (below):

“Thanks for all the messages and support I’ve got over the last couple days they’re all very much appreciated ♥️! So yeah basically 2 eye surgeries later after a really unfortunate accident, I’ve lost all vision in my right eye as it got split in half, who would have thought a champagne cork would be the end of me.. ?. But I still have 1 eye left, looking at the bright side of things. Thanks for flying out to look after me as well babe ♥️♥️♥️ if anyone knows where sells cool eye patches let me know :). #captinhook #thor #fettywap”

Wow. Gotta hand it to him, though… this is surprisingly upbeat!

Along with the optimistic message, Campbell also shared a picture with his girlfriend, fellow former Love Island contestant and beauty influencer Kaz Crossley, as he recovered in the hospital (below):

So scary to think about… much less to have to go through all the pain, and those surgeries.

Campbell also posted a few late-night updates to his Twitter account on Tuesday (below), thanking fans for their support and indicating there is a small chance he may yet see again:

I currently have 7 stitches in my eye (gross) and the doctors say it’s unlikely I’ll see properly again, they done a good job saving it as they said I might loose my whole eye to begin with. But Im hopeful and don’t want to believe my eye is gone forever. Anything is possible ????????

Crossley also shared an update from Ibiza on her Instagram Stories, warning her followers about “the dangers at these parties” and recounting the difficult ordeal (below):

“It’s been a hard 24 hours. No one here speaks English and he was taken for hours at one point and I had no clue he was in surgery again… He’s so brave and positive hopefully it will get better… I hope this will make people aware of the dangers at these parties and to be more careful.”

Ugh.

According to The Mirror, the former athlete was spotted leaving the hospital on Wednesday morning, evidently having been released to recover at home.

We can’t even imagine having to go through something like this — especially for Campbell, as he deals with the aftermath of losing sight in one eye, but his supportive GF too must be feeling so helpless and terrified.

Here’s hoping things turn out well for the reality TV hunk! Our thoughts are with him as he continues to recover from this terrible accident!
