Halloween Events For New York Area Pets


Halloween is just around the corner, and your pets are just as excited as you are!
There are so many cool pet-themed events and parties, ranging in price from $0 to $150, with most of the profits going right back to help the animals.
Here’s a list of some New York area Halloween pet events:
Oct. 22: The 21st annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade will be hosted in the East Village. There will be treats, prizes and even iPods given out to winners of their different events. It’s held from noon to 3 p.m. at the Tompkins Square Dog Run, along Ninth St. For more info, check out their site: HERE.
Oct. 26: Animal Fair will be hosting their 11th Annual Animal “Bark-tacular” Halloween Costume Benefit. There will be several celebrity judges who will award best costume. Oct. 27: Bobbi and the Strays host their annual Halloween Masquerade Ball. It has been called a “crazy evening of food, drinks, music, raffles, auctions and best costume prizes.” It’s from 7 p.m. to midnight at Russo’s on the Bay, 162-45 Cross Bay Blvd., Howard Beach. Oct. 28: Pups on the Runway Halloween Costume Ball Stylish features costumes made by local designers. Pet are allowed to join their owners at the event. Tickets to the event are $25 and entry into the costume contest is $5. For more info, contact dana@whitegatepr.com. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Bobbi and the Strays. The event is held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Roger Smith Hotel, 501 Lexington Ave.
Oct. 29: The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals is hosting a Creature’s Ball. There will be food, drinks and music by the deejay from the band Vampire Weekend. The event is from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Surrogate’s Court, 31 Chambers St. Tickets are $150 but they go to save needy animals. You can buy tickets HERE. Costumes are requested and attendees must be 21.
Oct. 29: The Howl-o-Ween Extravaganza, hosted by the Fort Tryon Dog Owner’s Group, is from 11 a.m. to noon at Sir William’s Dog Run in Inwood. The fee to get in is $5 but you have the chance to win some awesome prizes.
Oct. 29: The 13th Annual Great Pumpkin Dog Costume Contest, presented by Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Pups, will be at the Fort Greene Monument Stairs. Registration is at 11:30 a.m. and judging from noon-1 p.m. It’s free entry but there is a suggested donation of $5.
Oct. 30: There is a large dog run at the Washington Square Park Dog Halloween Party from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. For $5, you get a raffle ticket, face paint and treats. For more info, go HERE.
Oct. 30: In Brooklyn, the fourth annual Howl-o-Ween Howl Block Bark is from noon to 6 p.m., hosted by Sean Casey Animal Rescue. All proceeds are going to go to the completion of SCAR’s second rescue shelter facility. For a $10 donation, you get a SCAR rescue bracelet; for $25, you get a T-shirt and for $30 you get both.
